Translation of personal documents: specifics
A key aspect when translating personal documents is impeccable accuracy, as the slightest mistake in a name or address can render the document unacceptable to the relevant authorities. We are aware of the importance of this task and approach each order with the utmost responsibility to guarantee the smooth acceptance of your documents. This is confirmed by numerous positive reviews from our customers — some of whom we have been working with for more than 12 years.
Documents we translate:
- tax documents, criminal record certificates, bank statements, passports, residence registration documents, medical certificates, pension and other certificates;
- educational documents, such as a diploma or school certificate with attachments, a report card, and certificates from universities;
- certificates of marriage, divorce, birth, name change or death.
Each of our translations is checked by an editor, and when preparing a document for notarization, our manager carefully reviews all key information once again to make sure there are no errors. Since the official transliteration of names is subject to change in Ukraine, we use the spelling of the name and surname according to the client’s foreign passport in order to avoid problems with identification.
The cost of translating personal documents
Usually, the cost of translating one typical document, such as a birth or marriage certificate, is equal to the cost of translating 1 standard page. When the amount of text exceeds 1,800 characters with spaces (for example, an internal Ukrainian passport with all stamps, a bank or medical statement, etc.), the cost is calculated based on the number of characters multiplied by the rate for translation into the target language.

The cost of certifying the translation of personal documents
In most cases, the translation of personal documents requires certification confirming its authenticity and correspondence to the original. This process ensures that the translation is recognized by the relevant bodies and institutions. A certified translation has legal effect and the force of an official document. There are several options for certifying the translation of personal documents.
Certification with the seal of the translation bureau — UAH 100 per document
The fastest and most economical option. This type of certification includes the seal of our office, the translator’s name and contact information. Suitable for most non-governmental institutions, schools, kindergartens and, in some cases, for the preparation of immigration documents in a number of countries, such as Canada or the USA.
Certification of the translator’s signature with confirmation of a copy of the document — UAH 400 per document
In this case, along with the translator’s signature, the notary also confirms the authenticity of the copy of the document. For this, it is usually necessary to present the original document to a notary public.
Notarization
A more official option: a notary certifies the translator’s signature and qualifications by affixing a state seal. Usually, the certification is issued in Ukrainian, but if necessary, the notarial inscription can be duplicated in the target language. Learn more on the notarized translation page.
Apostille — from UAH 900
An apostille does not certify a translation, but only confirms the authenticity of the original document issued by a state authority. It is often confused with notarization, but they are not the same thing. First, an apostille is placed on the original document, and after that the document is translated and, if necessary, notarized. The cost is from UAH 900, depending on the type of document and urgency — see the legalization and apostille page.
