Notarization

Notarization of translations and copies in Ukraine: types, Ministry of Justice requirements, and when each is needed.

Ukrainian institutions recognize one working format for certifying a foreign document: a notarized Ukrainian translation, where a notary attests the translator’s signature. A German or Polish sworn translator’s work carries authority at home, but Ukrainian registry offices, banks, and courts will not accept it — a mirror principle applies, with each country trusting its own certification system.

A technical detail few people warn you about: a notary can only certify the signature of a translator registered with that notary. Bringing your own translation to be stamped will not work, which is why translation and notarization are ordered from one provider. Multilingual forms such as the Polish odpis skrócony still need a complete translation, and every name is checked against the Ukrainian passport: a single-letter mismatch can stall a registration.

In our Kyiv office the notary works alongside the translators, so a standard document is often certified the same day, from 2 hours, priced from UAH 570. Remote handling is routine too: you email the scans, and your representative or Nova Poshta receives the finished package.
