Documents for Slovakia

Slovakia is a neighboring destination with a dual system: courts and matrika offices rely on the official-translator institution (úradný prekladateľ), while most everyday needs are covered by a notarized translation from Ukraine. And the apostille question is softer here than in most EU countries, thanks to a legal-assistance treaty.

How it works in practice

• Úradný prekladateľ (an official translator from the Slovak Ministry of Justice register) — required by courts, matrika offices (marriage, child registration), the foreigners’ police, and notaries.
• A notarized translation from Ukraine — accepted by most employers, schools, and banks; noticeably cheaper. The golden rule stands: ask your institution in writing which format it accepts before ordering.
• The apostille — often waived under the legal-assistance treaty, but practice varies between institutions. If yours asks for it, we affix it in Ukraine before translation.

The most frequent documents: birth and marriage certificates, diplomas, police clearance, powers of attorney.

Documents the other way: from Slovakia to Ukraine

Slovak documents used in Ukraine mostly need only a notarized Ukrainian translation (apostille — per the specific institution’s requirement). We translate in Kyiv from scans; the package ships by Nova Poshta.
