Documents for Turkey
In Turkey, official translations live at the notary’s office: they are produced by a yeminli tercüman — a sworn translator attached to a specific noter — and the notary certifies the translation (noter tasdiki). For Ukrainian documents, an apostille comes on top. Know these two facts and the Turkish package assembles without surprises.
How it works in practice
The base chain: apostille in Ukraine → translation → noter tasdiki in Turkey (where the institution requires it).
- State authorities (marriage, residence/ikamet, courts, notarial transactions) — usually require a yeminli tercüman translation certified by a Turkish notary. We prepare the apostilled original and the base translation so the Turkish stage takes a single visit.
- Banks, employers, private recipients — often accept a notarized translation from Ukraine in English or Turkish. Check the requirement — it’s noticeably cheaper.
The most frequent documents: birth and marital-status certificates (marriage in Turkey), police clearance (ikamet), diplomas, powers of attorney for property.
Documents the other way: from Turkey to Ukraine
Turkish documents — nüfus extracts, court decisions, notarial acts — used in Ukraine require an apostille from the Turkish authorities (kaymakamlık/valilik) plus a notarized Ukrainian translation. We produce it in Kyiv from scans; the package ships by Nova Poshta.
A power of attorney from Turkey for use in Ukraine follows “template from a Ukrainian notary → certification at a Turkish notary → apostille → back-translation” — shown in our cross-border PoA case.

Frequently asked questions
Do Ukrainian documents need an apostille for Turkey?
Yes — for official procedures the apostille goes on the original in Ukraine before translation. Turkey is a Hague Convention member, so no consular legalization is needed.
What is a yeminli tercüman?
A sworn translator attached to a Turkish notary (noter). For Turkish state authorities the translation is usually produced by a yeminli tercüman, with the notary certifying the signature (noter tasdiki).
Marriage in Turkey: which documents do I prepare?
The typical package: a birth certificate, a certificate of marital status, and — where relevant — proof of divorce; all with apostilles and translations. The exact list comes from the local marriage office (evlendirme dairesi) — get it and send it to us.
Can everything be arranged remotely from Turkey?
Yes: send scans, we handle the apostille and translation in Ukraine; the final certification at a Turkish notary, where required, you complete locally with a ready package in hand.
