Sworn translation into Italian
Updated:
In Italy the official translation format is the traduzione giurata (asseverata): a translation certified by the translator’s oath before a court. Comuni, questure, and courts accept foreign documents only in this form. MovaPro arranges sworn Italian translations remotely — from the apostille in Ukraine to the finished package in your hands.
When a traduzione giurata is required
- marriage at an Italian comune and transcription of Ukrainian certificates;
- residence-permit (permesso di soggiorno) and citizenship dossiers;
- court matters, powers of attorney, inheritance documents;
- real-estate transactions and corporate documents.
Education documents are a special case: for admission or diploma recognition Italy usually requires a dichiarazione di valore, issued by the Italian consulate on the basis of an apostilled diploma with translation. We prepare documents for exactly that procedure.
For private recipients (employers, landlords) a notarized translation from Ukraine is often enough — cheaper and faster. Check your institution’s requirements; if you’re unsure how to ask, we’ll help.
The route for Ukrainian documents
- Apostille in Ukraine on the original document.

Frequently asked questions
What is a traduzione giurata (asseverata)?
A translation officially certified by the translator's oath before an Italian court (asseverazione). This is the format Italian state institutions require for foreign documents.
Which procedures require a sworn Italian translation?
Typically: civil-status acts at the comune (marriage, transcription of certificates), residence permits at the questura, court matters, real-estate purchases, inheritance. Diplomas follow a separate route — the dichiarazione di valore via the consulate.
Do Ukrainian documents need an apostille for Italy?
Yes. The apostille is affixed in Ukraine on the original before translation and is translated together with the document. Without it, official documents are not accepted in Italy.
I'm already in Italy — how does it work?
Remotely: you send scans, we agree the price and timeline, arrange the sworn translation, and you receive the scan plus the paper set by post.
