Canada is the number-one non-European destination for our clients: immigration programs, studies, family reunification. The key feature: Canada has no sworn-translator institution — the certified translation format rules, and IRCC’s requirements define what a translation must look like.
How it works in practice
For Canadian institutions the chain is simpler than for Europe: in most cases a properly formatted certified translation into English or French is enough.
- IRCC (immigration) — accepts translations by certified translators or translations with an affidavit. We prepare translations in an IRCC-acceptable format — the details are covered in our guide to IRCC translation requirements.
- WES and other credential-evaluation services (ICAS, IQAS) — need the diploma and supplement translated; each service has its own submission flow. What a real package looks like — in our six-document education package case.
- Apostille — since 2024 Canada is in the Hague Convention: some procedures (marriage, courts, education) now ask for an apostille on the Ukrainian original. It is affixed in Ukraine before translation.
One small detail that saves applications: name spelling in translations must match the international passport — transliteration mismatches are the most common trigger for immigration officers’ questions.
Documents the other way: from Canada to Ukraine
Since 2024, Canadian documents used in Ukraine require an apostille issued by the Canadian authorities (Global Affairs Canada or provincial services) plus a notarized Ukrainian translation. We translate in Kyiv from scans; the finished package ships by Nova Poshta.
