Documents for the USA

The USA has no sworn translators and very clear rules: immigration procedures run on certified translation — a translation with the translator’s statement of accuracy. The form matters as much as the content: USCIS rejects documents for missing certification more often than for translation quality.

How it works in practice

• USCIS (immigration, U4U, green card) — a full English translation + certification of accuracy. We prepare translations in exactly this format, adding notarization when the document is needed elsewhere too.
• Credential evaluation (WES, ECE) — the diploma and supplement translated in the service’s format; each has its own submission flow.
• Courts, marriage, state institutions — this is where the apostille appears: affixed in Ukraine on the original before translation. Requirements vary by state — check locally; we’ll help you ask.

As with Canada, the critical detail is name transliteration matching the international passport across the whole package.

Documents the other way: from the USA to Ukraine

American documents used in Ukraine need an apostille from the US authorities (the state’s Secretary of State; the State Department for federal documents) plus a notarized Ukrainian translation. The special case is powers of attorney: “template from a Ukrainian notary → notary public certification → state apostille → back-translation” — described in our cross-border PoA case.
