Documents for Spain
Spain is strict about form: official documents only with an apostille, translated by a traductor jurado — a sworn translator accredited by Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. And Spain is where the most annoying trap appears most often: laminated old-format certificates, which Ukraine will not apostille. Better to learn about it before submission than after.
How it works in practice
For Ukrainian documents going to Spanish institutions the chain is: apostille in Ukraine → translation → certification in the format your institution requires.
- Extranjería, registries, courts, homologation — require a sworn Spanish translation by a traductor jurado.
- Employers, schools, landlords — often accept a notarized translation from Ukraine at a noticeably lower price, so ask your institution first.
- Laminated documents — an old-format certificate under film cannot receive an apostille. The way out is a re-issued current-format certificate; we showed how that plays out in our laminated documents case.
The most frequent documents: birth and marriage certificates, police clearance (for residence), diplomas with supplements (homologation), powers of attorney for property.

Spanish documents — certificado de nacimiento, court decisions, notarial acts — used in Ukraine require an apostille affixed by the Spanish authorities plus a notarized Ukrainian translation. We produce the translation in Kyiv from scans; the finished package ships across Ukraine by Nova Poshta.
